    Hey friends,

My dell studio 1458 finally gave up its life. And now after 15days dell is offering me XPS L401X. So here are the configurations of the XPS and studio.

    My studio 1458 specs:
And my replacement L401X (xps 14) specs are:

My doubt here is that my old studio 14 had 4GB RAM in 2x2GB setup, but the XPS 14 has just 1x4GB. Will it cut my bandwidth? And how does the system manage with the heat? Also, please tell me if this configuration is justified when compared to my previous studio 14. Please reply fast guyz. Thanks.

    Seems like a good exchange.
You will lose ~0-10% from only having single channel ram.
But the i7 quad will run at it at 1333MHz, where the i5 only runs at it at 1066MHz (even though it says 1333MHz), also the i7 has the memory controller integrated on die, so is more efficient.
So you will probably actually see a gain.

If you are still unhappy, just ask them if they could match the 4GB stick with another.

    But it wont matter.
Also you can just buy and install another 4GB module for cheap if you want

but the screen on studio 1458 was great enough, very bright, but I've heard bad reviews from the people about xps 14 screen. Is it really bad?
