    Hello to all.
I'm new on this forum and i am very happy to be here.

Recently I am the happy owner of the new DELL XPS L502x, and i must say that it is an excellent laptop, with a small exception:

My touchpad buttons seem to be a bit off(especially the right one). They don't seem to be moving discretely and more of that, when I press them ,it sound like an old pc keyboard.
Is this normal or do I have defective buttons?
Would anyone be kind enough to report back if theirs is like this or if they should feel more solid,or smooth?
Here are some pictures with touchpad buttons:

    Thanks!

Mine came with a defective palmrest...and the replacement palmrest had this problem. The solution (do this on your own risk!!!!!)
Get a credit card and easily pry off the button, then realign it.

I have exactly the same buttons so there is a little bulge out, and the right one is 0.1 mm above. Do not worry about it and enjoy your new system :)

I wonder if you could tell me what kind of problem and how it was resolved? My laptop, the XPS 17 model, just arrived with a creaking palm rest (left side). I've asked for a refund but I'm still uncertain how to proceed. My fear with a repair is that one problem will simply be replaced with another. That seems to have happened in your case.

After I made a re-paste job the left side of palm rest started to crackling and that was really annoying. Possibly I left some loose screws or other way round too tightened and that was the reason of crackling palm rest. But luckily I fixed it by putting some small piece of folded thick paper in... uhm, I don't know how to call that spot where I put it so I will make a photo first and will attach it here as soon as possible.

Sorry letmeknov but my question was actually directed at Razor2. Your problem is interesting but not as pertinent to my situation. :)

Sure, here you go. :) Hope it helps. Just a small piece of folded thick paper and this annoying creaking sound was gone.

ugh i have creaking since the dell technician made some replacements. It is annoying but I feel like there is nothing I can do unless I void the warranty.

bottom left of the palm rest; more specifically, adjacent to the bottom left portion of the touch pad.

Yes, I had this sound at the same spot that you noticed. I posted a solution to fix it. It's very easy to do and you won't void your warranty if you will just put a small folded paper inside.

Thanks, ill try that out. But did the creaking derive from give in the palm rest covering for you? Or something deeper? Because it seems like you put the piece of paper underneath the laptop rather than just underneath the palm rest covering.

It's hard to tell for sure. Just give it a try. One more thing I remember that this creaking sound appeared only when system was running and reached it's idle temperature. When laptop was off and cool - no creaking at all.
