I have been living with 2 minor problems with my XPS L701X for 4 months. I mainly use this computer for CAD.

    1. After 35 seconds of no activity my display goes dim then blank. The "Power Saving" times are in minutes and changing those times does not change the 35 seconds to a blank display. It is like it goes to a blank display Screen Saver as any activity soon after it goes blank activates the display.

    2. My Bluetooth Mouse becomes inoperable after about 30 minutes working. The computer shows Bluetooth is working and that the mouse is connected. When I reboot the computer the mouse is working again - it is not a problem with the mouse.

I also use my XPS L701x for CAD work and you might want to look at reinstalling the driver for the bluetooth mouse. I had a similar issue and reinstalling the driver solved the issue for me. As far as the screen going dim then blank, go into power options and edit the settings there. I wouldn't run on power saver when doing CAD work anyways.

I am currently having a few issues with the 2012 version of AutoCAD. Keeps becoming unresponsive and then after a while becoming responsive. Oh well time for more troubleshooting.

Perhaps you have a blacnk screen saver? The screen options in Power Options only determine when to dim and shut off the display.
