since every country seems to have a different set of delivery scenarios, this is to monitor US deliveries: scheduled deliveries, delays, causes therefor, SNAFUs and, as importantly, ON-TIME deliveries (give 'em their due when they get it right).

I ordered on 3.21.11 with a scheduled delivery of 5.5.11
Today 3.29.11 i received an email from Dell stating that my order has shipped! Fed Ex tracking states that it arrived at Keasby, NJ on 3.28 and departed there on 3.29.

apparently it is on its way; kudos to Dell. it was originally estimated to be shipped on 5.5.11.

Either you're too lazy to only read the US posts or you're just begging for rep.

 

Problem with that thread is that other countries muddle the picture - from the limited response so far, it seems US laptops ship out in about a week, while a lot of the posters from the Order thread that are still waiting aren't in the US

 

Most of those posts in that thread are NOT USA orders. I'm the one who suggested it. So bug off.

Your order status page isn't the only one to look at, there are actually 4 online sites you can use to check your status:

- My Account log-in page (the page you see when you log into your Account, you only see it if you link your order to your Dell account)

- Order Status page (what you're looking at - mine STILL says "in production")

- After viewing the above link, click the "Dell Purchase ID" link for the 4th status

The sites are saying the same thing for me now as they said Wednesday the 23rd:

So the only hardware difference in your order is the 640GB vs 500GB drive from what I can see.

 

Yup - go check those 4 sites; what do they say for you?

The only reason I know mine's shipping is because I pestered a rep to put it into the system to call me when my XPS ships

 

All the same. In production.

 

Try calling Dell and pestering them a bit; when I called, I got transferred to India and kept asking the guy "What stage is my laptop in? Where is it in production? Is it in kitting, testing, or boxing?" He couldn't answer me, only said "it's in production", but eventually he said he'd put me into the system and I'd get a call when there's an update.

I dunno if that worked or not, but it's worth a shot.

TBH, I expected my laptop to be one of the last ones to ship out - I bought it on a weekend sale, and used a coupon - never expected I'd get it before someone who ordered before me

 

Yeah I emailed order support on Friday. I'll turn up the volume later this week.

Edit 1: An Indian rep from Dell called saying that it would be shipped out in the next 48 hours, that I should have it on or before April 11 and that I would getting an e-mail with tracking information when it ships. Needless to say now I'm a bit bummed I didn't choose a faster shipping option, haha.

Edit 2: Dell's order status check was down for a while for maintenance and is back up now; I just saw the status of my XPS 17 order change from Ship Complete to Manifested, and from In Production to Shipped on the other page... says it was shipped today! Have a FedEx Home Delivery (ground) tracking number/now, and but only status showing is that Dell was anticipating shipping the laptop on 3/24 so far. The automated status line now only mentions information about the (still pending) Dell Streak order.

Edit 3: Shipment was indeed tendered to FedEx tonight in KEASBEY, NJ, and will be delivered Mar 29, 2011 :-D

Ordered 3/20, shipping 3/28 - funny thing is, I got the free 7-day shipping, but it's set to arrive Wednesday - two days!!

Mine shipped as well and should be here tomorrow. It is coming as a replacement for the Studio XPS 16 that I contacted Dell about for service around 3/2/11. Around two and a half weeks ago they stated my notebook was unable to be fixed and they gave me the list of components about a week ago.

I just have to contact Dell about getting a backlit keyboard since that is what my SXPS 16 had. I'm looking forward to playing with this thing and not having to use my netbook.

similarly to the previous few posters, i ordered on March 20, EDD was May 5 and i just received an email that it was picked up by Fed Ex (Keasby NJ...? wonder where it was built..?) on March 28 and will be here (Tidewater Virginia) tomorrow, March 30.

looks as though whatever the shortage/back-order was, it has been remedied and they are cranking out the units. so, after all the caviling i, for one, say 'well-done, Dell'.

 

don't want to sound hopelessly ignorant but what is 'repped' and reppage? apparently a good thing; how does it work?

(i am curious because when i started this thread some ?#@! submitted a deprecating and discourteous post to the effect that i was desperately seeking 'rep'.....now i want lots of it just to frustrate him).

Well after a marathon call to Dell, I'm now being told that it appears my computer hasn't even started being built yet due to a part shortage. The same shortage they claimed I had back on Mar 17. Good luck to you all with your new laptops. I was really looking forward to owning one, but I think I'm just going to cancel now and use my money on something else.

 

If you can, cancel, reorder and wait a week - if it isn't being built by then, start looking elsewhere.

From the threads, it looks like older orders aren't given any priority (if anything, it seems they're at the back of the line)

 

Have to agree with you on this one, which given my past track with dell it a bit bothersome.
