I recently busted my DC jack on my L702X and now the cord easily slips out or if you touch it lightly it stops charging and then i have to play with it for about 20 min to get it back in to the charging position again. Now, i know how to replace it done it on my other laptops but the problem i have is finding the DC jack to buy i have tried the infamous Google, Bing, Ask.com, Ebay, Dell parts, Dell live support (that told me the DC jack is incorporated in the motherboard HAHAHAHA right! and i said its not) and i was thinking you guys might have a part number or a lead of where i could find it. Thank you very much in advance.

PS: I do have warranty but i don't feel comfortable sending my laptop to dell for a month for them to fix the jack and break something else as it happened before and as little as it works now i depend on it.

Unless you have Complete Care, I don't think Dell covers physically damaged DC jacks.

Reading the service manual, it indeed does look like the XPS 17 R2 uses a separate jack, but I can't seem to Google the part number. You might have to open yours up and see the Dell P/N on it, and likely it is only available through Dell.

I have a feeling this will be an eventual problem for many. The connection between my power cable and the actual jack is not as "strong/tight" as I feel it needs to be and I've never hit, tapped or stressed the connection in any way. It just seems as if the actual cable is very thick - which is great but the port to connect it to is not.

Agreed. Mine is not loose, but not tight. It was that way out of the box...Dell will be fixing mine someday I'm guessing...
