hi all, i have a dell xps l702x and my problems are.

    1
I have played battlefield 3 on high settings <pretty good actually > and my CPU and mother board showed temps up to 97 degrees.

    2
I have an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6230 wifi card.
The problem whit this is although i have a full signal the internet easy really slow, even on my iPhone i can measure more mps then on this. I have even tried downloading same file from the internet whit 2 separate laptops this one was 60kb and other same wireless was around 600-700kbs.
And every time i return the laptop from sleep the WiFi is loosing connection and when i re connect it takes ages to connect.

    3
Dont know why the clock always go mad and showing different time :D

    4
The worst screen i have seen in my life

    Gaming 1/10
    Programming 2/10
    Switched off 10/10 :D

Does anybody know how much is the touch screen replacement for these and if its 1080 ? hz?

Ps: tried reinstall drivers from dell and from intel as well, windows reinstall, all is same. for wifi i have tried every trick i could find as power options and stuff

    1. could try taking the fan meshes out and hoovering out the vents... may also need a repaste if it's getting that high - although bf3 is pretty intensive and the processor can get v hot when on turbo

    2. also got a problem with wireless using wireless N connection on an intel 1030N (rather than the 6230 you have)... there are problems with these cards relating to either a.) virgin media 50mb superhub (wireless N) and b.) an incompatibility with the inbuilt bluetooth module. If you don't use bluetooth at all then first off try disabling bluetooth devices in the device manager, if this doesn't help then go back into device manager, re-enable bluetooth devices and go to the device properties of the wireless card and disable wireless N, you'll cap your download at about 20meg but it'll work better than the pathetic speeds you had before

    3. no idea about the clock, try setting international options again and reset the time (telling it to auto-sync with an external/internet clock) if it's going out of sync while the laptop is off then it could be the BIOS CMOS battery going bad - this should be a quick swap.

    4. the 900p screen is widely regarded as being rather poor but you can pick up a quality 1080p one and replace yourself with ease - replaced the 900p screen myself with the one listed in my sig and it's stunningly good

additionally if you're not happy with the gaming performance then unless you spend a bit more on the gt555m you're not going to get much better - can overclock the gt555m to gtx460 standard without issue but with your gt550m I'm sure you can overclock that to get a bit more juice.

Hey jon is there any where you could find out how to get the new screen / how to install it? I have the 900p one (my system is a replacement system) and its a pile of crap from what I'm used to. Also note I live in Australia, would that affect the outcome of trying to get te new screen? I have no warranty left either. .. .

could try going directly to Dell and see if you can buy one of their 1080p AG screens, they're supposedly pretty good - otherwise check this link for details on what aftermarket screens you can buy and step by step instructions on how to install yourself (originally created for the l701x but the l702x is no different when it comes to swapping screens):
