Hi all , i have a XPS L702x with the 1600x900 touchscreen .
my spec is : i7 2620m , 8 gb ram (2 slot board) 555m gpu + Intel igp
I have spent hours trawling through countless posts and i still cant find a conclusive answer on weather or not the screen can be replaced by a 1080p panel. Some say yes and point towards a AU Optronics panel and some say you cant, the screen i have is simply awful and the touch screen died ages ago with the dreaded ghost clicking.
Can anyone point me to either the right panel that will be a reasonably straight forward swap ? , do i need a screen cable ? if so what and where do I buy ?
Many thanks in advance for any replys
Thanks , Ed.

I am not 100% sure on your model, but I have done several screen swaps and typically found that they are possible in most cases.
It was also 90 % of the time that a new video cable was required as the lower res options cable did not support the higher res screen,
If not one else replies, I would suggest opening up the LCD display and getting the actual part numbers of the screen and the LCD cable and take note of the video cable configuration - how it looks as in terms if the number of connections etc. (different configs such as camera and mic will have different cables)
From what I can see both screen options have 40 pin connectors, so from that perspective your looking OK to upgrade to the 1900 Full HD display
its the touch screen that throws a wrench into this.
(there is a 50 pin 3D screen option as well,)
I also found this on ebay
FULL HD 1080p LED LCD CAMERA CABLE MJMRN / 0MJMRN -
I also found a post from the dell forums where one person did upgrade from a standard (non touch screen) display to the FHD display and it worked.
But to really find a solution getting the part numbers from your screen and cable is where to start.
If you have he FHD screen already you can always give it a try - make sure you remove all power first, and handle the connectors with care.
