I've seen a Dell XPS L702x with the I3-2310M (which by using the gpu it comes with, can keep up with it's bigger brother i5's and i7's.) It also has the GT 550 and a 1600x900. Without anti-aliasing (i don't notice it anyway), will this run games on high settings. E.G, im currently playing MW2, Black Ops etc... Maybe even Battlefield 3?

Cheers in advance, if it could do that, i would be in dream land. I don't have a lot of money spend, and this would make me a very happy person.

    how much is this one?

I'd really go for a mid-level i5 if you could, I get the impression the i3's are kinda lower-level for smaller budget notebooks etc

the gt550m aint bad and some people have managed to overclock it quite a lot to a similar level of the gt555m

any recent laptop will handle MW2 or black ops just fine on max settings, I get the impression BF3 may be a lot more intensive when it comes to CPU so the i3 may let you down, during the beta I still only managed to get it to high settings running smoothly (around the 40fps mark) when it was at 768p, and I've overclocked my gt555m a lot :-S

both those are vids captured from a stock l702x with an i5, default drivers and gt555m, I'm guessing you could overclock the gt550m in the one you're looking at to a stock 555m level without issue so what you see on those videos should be quite a good example of what you can expect

also search youtube for "l502x battlefield 3 beta" and you'll find an example of what it'll likely run like on a gt550m

It is £380.74. Just looked at a BF3 Beta video on the L702x. Lowest settings. However, I do find it funny that the Geforce 8500GT from time ago, can actually run the game stable and low. It is a related video.

What is your budget, they do come up on the outlet occasionally but you're looking at quite a bit more. I got mine for £800 but that's with 2.2ghz i7, 8gb ram, 1080p screen etc. Personally I'd try and save up as much as you can, perhaps add in some Christmas money etc?

You'll want at least a decent i5 if you're doing gaming of anything remotely modern. An i3 will disappoint in that regard. The 550m will fit your desires though.

it is a pretty good deal, but then again having an i3 in there is kinda like putting a scooter engine in an audi r8
