Hi,
I just purchased a Dell XPS M1330 and when unpacking the laptop I noticed that the screen had finger prints on it. There was also not plastic covering LCD or the lid that's typicall on most other laptops. Is this usual for Dells, is there any way to tell if this is a unit someone else has returned?

Did you buy it from the Outlet or was it Brand New configured from the site/phone?
Try booting it up and see if Windows prompts you to register. -
Mine was new and had no such covers. Perhaps the fingerprints were from the build and were not wiped off. I would not worry. Enjoy your NEW laptop.

Someone had to touch it to assemble it.
I've seen complaint systems w/ defects, but a finger print?
What's next? -
Okay, okay. Not a complaint just an observation. I think I've become paranoid after sending a couple of HP laptops back that arrived damaged, cracked plastic on the cases.
I must say the XPS M1330 is excellent. The CCFL screen is wonderful, I'd even go as far as to say that it's the best one I've ever seen on a laptopThe build quality is also good, bar the finger prints of course

They are assembled by humans and then put on a testing machine by humans then sent away. Its going to get touched
