Hi guys!
I'm currently using a dell xps m1330 for some office work (i know it's a very old notebook but it's keyboard is the best) and today i got the vertical lines you can see in the attached picture.
Right now I'm not sure if this the infamous GPU issue in the m1330, or is a problem with the LCD screen, cause if i plug the notebook through VGA the image looks perfect and clear in an external monitor. Do you know if it's one or the other?
I remember i do the cooper mod five or six years ago (i have a nvidia card) and since that day never had an issue altough i remember that the mod was not a guarantee.
Thanks in advance!

If the output on the external monitor is fine, then the GPU chip itself should be fine. The issue is either somewhere between the GPU and the LCD or the LCD itself.

Going all at once whilst working on external would normally point to the cable, cheaper than buying an LCD to find out you're wrong. unless it isn't a separate part.

Hi guys thanks a lot for your responses, i really appreciate that!
Are you sure that the problem should be in the lcd and/or cable and not the gpu/motherboard? I'm trying to search about this problem with the m1330 in the old threads of the forum but can't find a proper answer.
I remember that 5 or 6 years ago i had that vertical lines problem and I still had warranty at that time, so dell replace my motherboard and the problem was fixed. But I didn't remember at that time trying to use the external vga port to see if that work or not. So now I'm not sure if it's one problem (gpu/mobo) or the other (lcd/cable), and here in my country there aren't many options to search for replacement parts.
Thanks again! -
I have vertical lines on one M1330 - apparently due to bad connections between the cable and the bottom of the screen... the lines change if you press the bezel at bottom center.
