Proof of this is on the Dell UK website (or lack thereof), and is pending replacement with a higher graphics card (8600). I contacted the technicians and they said that "The M1330 is no longer in production" The product is at the end of its life.

He denied the graphics card update.

So is the 1530, both are gone from the Irish Dell site too.

"Pending replacement" - I don't think so, putting that card into a 1330 that already overheats with just an 8400m would be non-sensical.

Also considering its faulty design and the fact that its outdated, this isn't going to happen. Dell have merely phased them out.

    I agree with this.

I have had a chat with the main manager now and he tells me that the assistant manager I spoke to was getting confused with the studio laptops in terms of the graphics card. The M1330 production has finished for good, but the M1530 continues to be produced. yomamasfavourite, if you look under small business, M1530 is still there.

Most likely due to the move from 16:10 to 16:9. Still a few available in the Outlet if anyone is still interested, but other than that, the actual XPS has finally died (except for the M1730).

I have a question - what happens in 4 years from now, because I am still on warranty, will they even be able to source the parts if something goes wrong? What if they cant?

If the event that there are no more spare parts to repair your laptop in whatever way possible, most likely they'll just replace it with a similar spec'd machine of the same value i.e. the SXPS 16.

Interesting. I wonder then, why they pulled the 1530 from the consumer section?

Aww man. I love my m1330! I was hoping to buy another back in New Zealand when we return. I guess that won't be happening.

I've already upgraded all it's bits, short of the CPU, so I guess that'll have to be next!

I haven't tried to install W7 yet, does it not have most of the drivers in by default?

The government will back your warranty. If your laptop breaks, you can call Pres. Obama and he will personally fabricate a new part for you.

Windows 7 uses the Vista driver model, so you shouldn't need any special W7 drivers. It's not like XP vs. Vista. Yes, there are W7 specific drivers to take advantage of some new OS features, but their use is not mandatory.

Last time I installed Windows 7, the wifi would work for 5 minutes and then cut out. It was a driver problem for sure.. but Windows 7 Beta expires in August anyway.. so why bother

Wow.. :( I hope this doesn't happen to the US Site fairly soon. And, it doesn't happen to the 1530's anytime soon, either..

The release candidate (released to the public May 5th) will be valid until March of 2010.
