Well, I've been missing around with my newly refurbished XPS 1330. I like the monitor a lot. But I don't like the keyboard. The keys feel like hollow plastic or a plastic with no density. I thought with the silver finish they would have a more sturdy metal like feeling...but more just the opposite. The keys feel really cheap...especially when compared to my than my other laptop keyboards. Any thoughts to this?

That's odd. I have the M1530 but it uses the same keyboard and I find it to be extremely comfortable and I don't find them cheap feeling. A good fix I reckon is to get a silicon keyboard cover off ebay or something. I have a CooSkin one which is actually made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and it was definitely worth it. There's a review on here somewhere where they say silicon is better but whatever you want I guess. I haven't tried silicon but I've had silicon protectors for other things like my Nintendo DS and after leaving it on for ages I decided to take it off one day only to find that it had left this oily, tacky residue so this may happen with a keyboard too...who knows maybe it depends on the quality of the silicon. That's why I decided to go with the TPU when I saw it and it couldn't be better IMO. Fits PERFECTLY, it's like 99% transparent and it also adds a much softer touch when typing. It'll get rid of that plasticy feel I suppose you're talking about. Oh and it of course it protects your keyboard from spills and bits and pieces that fall in between. I'm sure most people are familiar with their keyboards having so much crap in between the keys....well this will stop that :D

Edit: This is the one I bought

I have the M1530 too and find the keyboard to feel high in quality, but I do think the Studio 1535 my girlfriend has uses a slightly nicer keyboard in terms of how it is to type.

You can't replace the M1330 with a studio keyboard but there is a Dell business laptop you can get a keyboard from and put into your M1330, it is black though. Sorry I don't remember which model but i'm sure somebody will.

    It's a Vostro series. I believe it's the 1400/1500 model. ;)

Yep, the Vostro 1400 keyboard is a direct replacement.

It has a much nicer feel, and the backing is a solid base so there is no keyboard flex.

Check out e-bay for 'JM629' part number, and make sure it is black.

Can this Vostro keyboard replacement be done on a M1530? I was thinking about switching this laptop for the M1530.

The M1330 and M1530 use the exact same keyboard so yes I imagine so.
