How badly does the Midnight Blue pick up smudges and fingerprints and is it better or worse than the red, black and white versions.

Do we have any pictures of fingerprints on these laptops to see how bas it is?

The Midnight Blue picks up fingerprints and smudges worse than the red.

I'll be adding new pictures and updating the review soon. Midnight Blue doesn't pick any fingerprints.

It is slimmer than the original adapter and worth the money. Here's my review on it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=211155

In my experience I found Midnight Blue to be the best color among the four colors. This is the only color that doesn't pick any fingerprints.

My hands are pretty dry but still all other colors except Midnight Blue seem to pick up my fingerprints.

h3nG! We agreed that Toshiba LED is grainy compare to ccfl screen.
So you exchage the LED one for the one with LG CCFL screen. Did they do the exchange for you or they make you return the LED one and reorder a new one with ccfl screen?
It seem to me that you are extremely satisfy with the LG ccfl screen (completly clear and vibrant color). Do you have control when requesting for LG ccfl screen to replace your LED or it is just a draw of luck?

As LoJack Theft Recovery Service is useful only in the US, frequent international travelers will have no use for it. Such customers can contact Dell to ensure that they don't receive it and get charged for it. In case they have already received it, they can contact Dell for a return and a refund.

Darn it! I wish I had known this before I ordered my M1330 in Dec-07. I have AAA membership!

Also - I just noticed that there is a tiny scratch on the right side of the LED lid. Do these lids (i.e. the sides holding the display) get scrached easily? I used to be a Thinkpad owner and thos are built like a Tank! I'm a bit worried that the M1330 may get scratched easily since I travel ALOT! I'm pretty much at the airport each week.

They are not scratch proof but they don't get scratched easily either. You need to handle your notebook better.

Computers ordered in 2008 have the A07 Revision BIOS and the A04 Revision Motherboard right?

Can you post a picture with the 9-cell battery attached? I cannot find any photos and I would like to avoid ordering the 6-cell version at all.

    sorry about the slow response...

but i returned my LED and ordered a ccfl one. i was very lucky to get the LG screen. it is my favorite of all the screens so far.

if you search the forums, poeple generally agree LG makes the best laptop screens. and I have to say imo, this lg is very comparable to the sony screens.

i went to the bby store and there is another ccfl screen: auo manufacturer. the LG is my favorite of all the screens. but people are reporting there is a samsung led, i haven't seen that one yet.

Yes but only new ones. If you buy from outlet you might get anything because they are returned ones.

I don't think this question was ever answered; so here I go with my humble interpretation:

I believe the new Intel chipsets/processors support asymmetric dual channel memory, which allows unpaired dimms to still function in dual channel. Consequently, your 3gb RAM (although comprised of 1 2gb SODIMM and 1 1gb SODIMM), should operate in dual channel. If this information is wrong, someone please feel free to correct!

The sticker near the service tag label under my notebook says I have the A04 version of something. I assume it means the motherboard. But how come I'm still experiencing the cpu and southbridge whine? the southbridge whine is more noticeable.

If you had read the review, you would have known how to identify your motherboard revision and not ask this question.

Anyways, here it is again: The motherboard revision can be verified by checking the revision number printed on the sticker pasted on the SODIMM Socket 1 or A. Check the Service Manual for accessing the memory: Memory

Number on outside is not the motherboard revision.. Dell unfortunately uses the same number scheme to number a lot of things..

    HI,
Say what is your opinion about feeling vibrations/ humming when
touching the machine. I got a new one and it isn't even close to has bad as one before, but still present.
I'm just not sure whether to get another?
    Thanks for any help.

I just bought my laptop a few weeks ago. I have A04 motherboard and mine came w/ A07 bios. I recently updated to A09 bios, and I still have the whine

How is it that you don't have the whine?

My notebook does not have any vibrations or humming. If Dell can send you another one, go ahead and try that option.

As I said in my post, the new motherboard and BIOS revision eliminate processor/bridge whine due to piezoelectric effect. If your notebook is whining due to electromagnetic interference (EMI), try eliminating the interference by taking it away from microwaves, cordless and celluar phones, big screen tvs and audio equipment.

no, it is the same whine everyone else gets. it's not close to anything. it whines no matter where it is: empty desk, middle of 600 person lecture hall, in my hands walking around, etc

the same piezoelectric whine everyone else gets.

btw, i think there's another thread that has people posting results after the A09 upgrade, and everyone still has the whine. so i don't know wtf you're talking about

Wow, I just noticed the whine on my M1330. It can be pretty distracting. It is very high pitched. You need to be canine to really make the best of it :) It is VERY annoying.

I was not looking to hear this one, but it is hard to miss, even though everyone has been warning us all about it. I could swear it sounds like the fan though?!

no, i can tell it's not actually any moving parts. moving parts would have a repetition and a pattern. this is more like zzzzZZzzzzZzzzZ, nothing really sounds the same, but they're all similar

Yep, extremely annoying sound and easy to hear even if you haven't read these forums etc.. Like my wife will sit on the couch in front of the notebook (about 2 metres away) and say.. oh.. it's squealing pretty loudly....

Why do you call it "2008 Version"?
    Is there anything new?

I called it the 2008 version as it includes the new hardware and firmware revisions released in 2008.

lol, why oh why would you bring back a thread from March 2008 and think that its a M1330 replacement? Common sense.

I was trying to find the part number listed for the blue led back cover. In your partial list of your components you didnt lkist enough for me to see it.

I am trying to order one to replace my red led version. I would appreciate if you could pass that info to me.

    Thanks,

When you pay so much money for a product you would expect better build quality. I'd be upset if my 1330 had these defects too.
