Hi, I have a Dell XPS m1330 (Intel Graphics) laptop, the problem I am facing is that the laptop runs fine on battery power but it doesn't recognize the AC adapter. I have checked both the adapter and battery on a different M1330 and they work fine.

I have taken apart the laptop to see if the dc jack was faulty, when checking with a voltmeter on the pins showed in the pic I get the full 19.5v dc.

Do you guys know what is the faulty part?
    Is it the charger board?

I don't know if it helps but I only get a response on the dc jack if I touch the tips of the pins on the DC jack, I don't get any response if I touch the surrounding round silver area.

I had the same problem, my 1330 (with Nvidia graphics) stopped recognizing my ac adapter, and wouldn't charge the battery. I called tech support and they told me it was the motherboard failing. This is a known problem with M1330's, although seems to happen on the Nvidia equipped ones because the GPU overheats. After two motherboard changes, Dell just replaced mine with an XPS 14

Yes they can but this may work out costly (Parts, call out, Tec time etc) find out how much an extended warranty would cost you for say 1 year. This may well be the cheaper way in getting this fix via Dell.
