    Hey,

I have had my Dell XPS M1530 for about 5 months now and suddenly i have realized that i am only getting audio out of the right-hand speaker, and that the left one is unresponsive.

My OS is fine, and the driver appears to be working properly. In the control panel settings for sound, the balance is correct, and the test seems to run fine. Also, when i plug in headphones or speakers, i am getting sound in both ears.

Could this be anything but a hardware issue? Any ideas? If it is a hardware issue will Dell come out and replace the speaker?

    Thanks!

How come if the "test seems to run fine", you are not getting the audio out of the right speaker at other times?

And probably its the speaker as you think... Call Dell and tell them. Probably they will replace.

Yup, I'm having the same problem too. My left speaker was jarring at first, and now it's only working some of the time. Seeing that you too lost your left speaker, I think it may have something to do with the fact that it is located above the exhaust vent which sees some high temperatures if it is obstructed.

Dead speakers seem kinda common in M1530, since they are very small and fragile.
My right speaker went dead about a month ago, told Dell and they sent a technician to replace it.
