Um, I don't have an answer but next time when you post, please don't use all those unnecessary exclamation marks.

    Thanks

The 512mb models have only DDR2 and thus aren't as capable as their 256mb DDR3 counterparts.

As of yet the UK site does not list the 512mb DDR3 8600m GT being avaliable on the XPS, but if you ring them up they might have it as a customisable option.

    Hope this helps.

Where are you hearing about this 512MB version? Haven't seen/heard of it anywhere else. The 1530 just came out so I can'tsee why they would have this upgrade already.

Don't expect the 1530 to add a 512 option, and it would not likely make any performance difference anyways.

Hence why I said ring them up and ask.

I heard Asus were going to have the DDR3 version in some of their laptops upcoming plus as an option on the C90s.

Alot of other notebooks have the 512mb DDR2 version of the 8600m GT GPU. Of course we may or may not get it; unlikely seeing the 8800 series over the horizon but still worth a ring IMO.

Should I ask them if they have one that runs on solar power as well? Why would I call a manufactuerer and ask them about products they don't sell? Just because you want one doesn't mean it exists, and everything so far suggests it doesn't.

Should I also call and see if they will have one that runs on a fuel cell? :p :D

They do hold information on possible upcoming products which they themselves may incorporate. From what I've read this past month when researching to buy my notebook is that the 8600m GT 512 DDR3 has been touted as a possible release by Nvidia (with Asus and Sager looking good as initial adopters) and thus Dell may incorporate it as a possible customisation; (unlikely with the 8800 series about to come in but never the less on inspiron models I don't see why not if Nvidia does release it).

No need to be argumentative my good fellow.

Also nice edit of your 'sells' scooberdoober ;p (she sells sea shells on the she.... aahh dammit)
