Hey guys I posted my question for the scores in the official owners thread but it appears its been buried a few times as never got answers to the question.

I ordered a M1530 and backlight was out anyway got the screen replaced and they sent me a replacement unit and i decided to run the two systems vista expierance to see the scores. My question is what is the gaming score vista is giving you guys as well as what video drivers are you using?

Both systems have the 174.31 drivers and i get 5.4 on 1 system and 5.5 on the other. The system with 5.5 is nothing but me getting the system from dell and updating the UPEK drivers and installing sp1. the system with 5.4

Can you guys tell me what vista is giving your gaming graphics. Or is it really not something to worry about as vista isint that accurate?

i think the WEI must be the dumbest and most overrated thing microsoft has imposed on people. it's caused little man syndrome in computer users.

so its not reliable and they are likely the same OR what? lol. some peoples scores for the video gaming would be great. besides that everything else on the two systems matched up.

here's a question. who and what does it take to get 6.0 all the way across the board? probably some supercomputer under a mountain with a small militia protecting it that wouldn't dare touch microsoft operating systems in the first place. btw, i have one on layaway. i gotta finish paying it off by xmas.

well im not saying that but how do i have 2 exact systems next to each other and they have the same video drivers yet 1 scores a gaming score of 5.4 while the other shows 5.5. That just doesnt make sense. Im more curious if something is wrong with the system thats scoring lower.

    You can't score a 6. Max score is 5.9.

Stop looking at the WEI score.

So nobody's really helped him yet, just trashed Vista (and rightfully so).

There's nothing to help. I use Vista, I like Vista. That doesn't change the fact that the WEI is a piece of ****.

So like I said, stop looking at the WEI. Stop wasting your time and the forum space over it.

nobody has answered my question or been able to provide why 2 exact same spec'd laptops have 2 different scores for the video gaming score. why is one at 5.4 and one at 5.5 with the same drivers? that just boggles my mind.

No one can really give you an exact answer. Really it isn't something you should lose sleep over. The WEI is a joke, and shouldn't be used as a benchmarking utility.

I will try to provide af usefull answer. If you run 3dmark06 on the same machine twice, you'll not get the same result each time. You'll maybe getting 4521 the first time, and 4502 the second time, but you wont get the exact same score. You can transfer this to the WEI, where you might get 5.444 [equals 5.4] one day you test, and 5.501 [equals 5.5] the next day.. - just small random variations created by God to make our life more exciting... :)

    Exactly.

There is nothing wrong with WEI as a very broad indicator of system performance, but it isn't an exhaustive real world benchmark. It will highlight a particular area of your system lagging behind, but don't put any thought into the actual numbers.

If you drink 3 pints of beer tonight and 3 pints of beer tomorrow theres a pretty good chance you wont feel exactly the same effect both nights.

Thats really all you need to know, stop worrying about rubbish put your time to better use like drinking beer and scoring birds :)
