My 1530 gives a series of beeps on start up and goes to the Boot Manager screen. Selecting Vista as the operating system allows the laptop to boot after giving another series of beeps.
Does anyone have a list of the beep codes? Or know how I can find out what the beep codes mean?
Surprisingly my warranty ran out the day before this started happening!! Is that just a coincidence?????

Beep Codes
Your computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the monitor cannot display errors or problems. This series of beeps, called a beep code, identifies a problem.
One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code tells you that the computer encountered a possible motherboard
failure. If your computer beeps during start-up:
Code
(repetitive short beeps)
Description
Beep:1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure; BIOS chipfailure
Beeps:2 No RAM detected
Beeps :3 Chipset Error (North and South Bridge Chipset, DMA/IMR/Timer Error for Intel platform); Chipset Error Time-Of-Day Clock test failure Gate A20 failure Super I/O chip failure Keyboard controller test failure
Beeps: 4 RAM Read/Write failure
Beeps: 5 Real-time clock power failure
Beeps:6 Video BIOS Test failure
If these don't fit your system check in your Dell manual.
