My XPS m1530 has been out of warranty for about a year now and my GPU has gone out. It's an nVidia 8600m which is known to have problems on this laptop hence The NVIDIA GPU Litigation - Home Page
I have read that nVidia has fixed this issue with new boards, is that true? What models should I be looking at and where might I be able to purchase one?

I think anything that's not a 7 or 8 series derivative should be okay. At least for Dell, nothing they're selling new now should have such a GPU.
