My current Nvidia driver version is 176.44.

i have checked the Nvidia site & they have listed a new driver version for NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT which is,
    Verde Notebook Release 256
    Version: 258.96 WHQL
    Release Date: July 19, 2010

Till last nite i not had any problems with my existing driver, but a recent crash report showed that Nvidia driver stopped working 3 times which resulted in BSOD & windows Action center is recommending me to install the latest version of Nvidia driver.
so i did scan with nvidia corp tool to automatically check the best driver for my xps M1530 & the scan tool detected my existing version is 176.44 & recommended me to install the latest version 258.96.

I just want to know is it worth installing the Ver 258.96? coz my XPS M1530 idles at 57c with the current driver version 176.44

do xps M1530 users updated their version to 258.96?

    do you ppl recommend?

    Thank you :)

176.44 is really old driver my friend.
    Wow, time passes so fast!!

I recommend you MS version 257.41 WHQL

With NVIDIA 258.96 WHQL, my Windows 7 WIE gaming graphic rating dropped from 6.1 to 5.9.

I know WIE benchmark is not reliable, but if the points drop something is not right.

I prefer MS version of NVIDIA drivers for our old 8600M GT. Normally MS version are really good drivers.

Ty unlogic for your info :)

The gpu was idling at 57c-60c with the old driver version 176.44 which came with dell, later i did test few drivers but the the idling temp went to 64c-70c, so i never updated to newer version but yesterday i have updated to newer version ie 258.96 WHQL & my GPU is idling at 54C from 24 hours, im still monitoring this new driver. will see how it will perform.

    thank you :)
