Hi to all,
I've been avidly checing this website for some time now, but have just recently subscribed to the forums.
Anyways, I used to be a proud owner of an Asus F8Sn, but due to driver compatibility issues with printer devices and the very poor battery life; I opted to purchase a Dell XPS M1530.
To make a long story short, I ordered the XPS M1530 from a distributor here in the Philippines, since Dell here has no Just-In-Time Delivery service, but rather distributes preset machines. Mine contains the T9300 Processor with 3GB RAM.
However, to my surprise, I did not find the Dell leather binder-case that I have seen on numerous Youtube unboxing videos. All the CDs, manuals, etc. just came in plastic. In addition, I only found one consumer IR media remote (contrary to the Youtube vids I saw where people got two, one for spare).
But my biggest problem was with the AC adapter. Dell gave me the standard adapter with a three-prong outlet, but the outlet plug has two pins, and is notably very short. (My Asus adapter is much longer and normal-sized).
I have read many forum posts and Dell replies regarding shocks from two-prong cables, but I am wondering if this only applies to those with two-prong sockets on the power brick itself. Mine has three-prongs on the power brick, but outlets to two prong.
So far I haven't experienced any of the so-called "shocks," but don't want to be a victim of one. Should I contact the store I purchased it in and demand for the three-pin adapter that is longer? Or should I stick with the short two-pin one they gave me?
Just wondering if such deficiencies in packaging and the wrong adapters are also being experienced by other XPS M1530 owners.
Thanks guys...

By the way, I will post some pics of my adapter for those who are interested. I'm not sure why Dell would supply such a short AC adapter and a very loose one as well. I also thought they stopped producing two-pin adapters, but to my surprise, my unit still came with one.

Dell no longer give out the case/earbuds etc. In fact, you were lucky to get the remote. Two remotes was a mistake in the favour of whoever got them.

I would call the company and get a new adaptor.. maybe they are cleaning up stock..

Dell is a sneaky one!
You have people (including me) that expected these extra's because of the reviews and YouTube videos mentioning them. I just assumed people had received it at first as a "thank you" from Dell for purchasing their premium laptop. Seems Dell is getting cheap and skimping out on these accessories which aren't even listed on the invoice nor made publicly as "promotional items" to my knowledge. Now they're trying to play it off as a promotion. The XPS customer service didn't even know what I was talking about! I feel that this whole thing is deceptive, and well, I suppose that's part of business, too. It's a shame they quit providing them.

That was a year ago, it was a promotion for their new systems. Check any of the youtube videos and you'll see that they are ancient.

The "promotion" as they call it, ended early august according to my rep. In addition, they also say it depends HOW we ordered the m1530, there are like 3 different base models to start building one online, so those who got the accessories got it because they 1. ordered early and 2. ordered through a different base model. I received 1 remote, its really all you need. the headphones...$10.00 at target. Microfibre cloth? $6.00 at Staples, or you can buy a cleaning kit for about $12.00. i generally try to keep my screen clean, if there is a small fingerprint just use a soft cloth like a handkerchief or something. to clean the brushed aluminum you can use small amount of rubbing alcohol and dry lint-free cloth.

My 1530 arrived last Friday. I had ordered an extra AC adaptor. Oddly enough, two came in the box, one with 3-prong brick/cord, and the other with 2-prong brick/cord.
