    Hi guys

My name is M.Ridwan Sameer, and im new to NBR forums

I dont have a laptop yet, but i am counting on getting one

I was just pondering over the dell XPS 1530 over at this link

    http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsnb_m1530?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

I was thinking of going with "one" of the two laptops to the left

but i want to know, looking at all those specifications, the laptop looks quite cheap

Is there any catch to it?

Is ordering ONLINE from dell safe, will they deliver without any damage made to it?

Also i want to know a few things about the laptop

IF you own a dell xps M1530, can you give me your take on it?

Also i want to know what the screen and keyboard and mouse pad are like

Is the screen glossy?, in front of the sun will it reflect an image to an unbearable extent? And the key board, does it fell smooth and easy to type on?, is the mouse pad responsive enough for quick web browsing?

Also keep in mind that i want to go for the two on the left, as the others are too expensive

I mainly want to know why the price is quite cheao for such a top notch laptop, and if buying from them is safe

Also do they have any delivery/handling charges?

    if so how much?

Sorry for all the questiond, but i just don't want to get cheated

    Thanks you everyone

Looks like they did a price drop.

Ordering is quite safe, Dell handles millions of orders each year without any problem.

The screen will be a glossy type.

I would suggest that you customize a notebook rather than basing your purchasing options on the pre configured models.

Yes there will be delivery charges, it depends on how quickly you want it. There will also be tax.

Is there any catch to it?
    - There isn't really a catch, the chip models are a bit older, the T5xxx series and besides that, some of the other specs are what they have as a "core" 1530 spec and thats why it is a bit cheaper.

Is ordering ONLINE from dell safe, will they deliver without any damage made to it?
-Ordering from Dell online is safe from what i can tell. I bought my 1530 from them and its fine, no damages what so ever when i got mines although some people in the forums have complained over cosmetics such as a keyboard bulge and some other minor stuff. But all and all they ship their laptops out fine. You can always get them to replace yours if you do have cosmetic problems within the first 21 days and get a brand new one.

IF you own a dell xps M1530, can you give me your take on it?
    - I'm loving my xps, nothing wrong with it at all. My specs are in my sig so take a look. So far i am very happy with it. It preforms great and runs most of the new games such as crysis decently smooth if you tweak with the configurations. You will see alot of people complaining about certain stuff over the forum but keep in mind thats like maybe 100 out of the 100000+ people that have a 1530. I was hesitant at first because of the 8600m gt problems but from what i heard they fixed them in Aug in a post in the forums.

Also i want to know what the screen and keyboard and mouse pad are like
    - I got a 1440x900 lcd (no led, i regret not getting it) and its fine. There are posts in the forums complaining about grainyness and such, just do a search and read them yourself. As for the touchpad, i can't really say much about it since i barely use it (have my external mouse with me most of the time) but i have heard that it ain't too great, but hey, it works =P

Is the screen glossy?, in front of the sun will it reflect an image to an unbearable extent? And the key board, does it fell smooth and easy to type on?, is the mouse pad responsive enough for quick web browsing?
    - The screen is glossy and its not too bad with lighting. The keyboard i love, feels very smooth when you type on it. And as for the touch pad read above

As for the left models, i mean it all really depends what you are planning to use your laptop for. With the left models, they will be more than good enuff for everyday browsing, messaging, etc. However, if you want to play games or multitask heavily, i suggest upgrading the vid card to the 8600m gt and at least 3 gigs of ram. Also, a t8xxx+ chipset is nice too but it WILL cost you a bit more.
I think when i bought mines 2 months back with the configs in my sig it costed me like $1400. But i seriously feel its worth it since it satisfies my need to browse + message as well as playing newer games smoothly such as Crysis, Grid, etc.

    Hope this helped.

    okay

now what i want is for someone to give me a good configuration so that i can run photoshop and multitask with it, but just a little

Please give me a good configuration, so that when i click " build your own" i would know what to do

Also it should not go above 1050$ please

ALSO, do they ship to " Saudi Arabia " as in "outside the U.S.A and canada"

    thanks

First, I think it would be better if you could come up with a configuration yourself, post it here, and then people could help you change / modify some spec's.. I will try to see if I can get u one (and I am sure others would try as well, but it takes time :)) So, you should try to make one yourself :) Its a nice learning experience in itself.. :)

As for shipping, you would have to find out if they ship outside USA. AFAIK, they don't. Else you could have your friend or someone have it bought in US and then bring it over..

Have you tried checking the EU Dell site? I don't remember exactly, but EU Dell, when I bought, was asking me if I need it shipped it here or elsewhere, since I said I am in Italy just for my studies and I will be leaving soon... so they kinda thought I was leaving like right now, but then I said I need it here since I will be here for one more year.. So I am not sure if it is relevant to "shipping outside" certain countries ' boundaries, but you can check it out.. Cheers.

Edit: Btw, for your usage patterns, you might even want to check out the "Studio 15" model... Its pretty nice and a lot cheaper than the M1530...

And why are you not ordering from the Dell - Saudi Arabia site itself???

Edit 2: Ahhhh wow... they don't have the M1530 model there?????

But as ik see the Studio is more expensive

you get it for minimum 3800 AED ( same as riyals ), but the xps is about 1000$ ( 3750 riyals )

BUt tell m e would you recommend the studio over the xps?

    well,

in that place they only sell pre-made laptops, you cant configure it or anything

I might be able to add a 1gb of ram into it, how's that?

SO you think i should go for that?

    THanks
