    Dell XPS M1710 bios and vista saying no battery installed

    Why is dell bios and vista telling me my battery isnt installed when it is? is my battery bad?

    hello. there is an option within the bios that disables the battery check. try that. i am sure your battery charger is ok and the one designed for your laptop, but i have seen this annoyance before, and it's easy to hide.

    well vista is also showing it as no battery detected. shows a red x on the power icon. were is that setting int he bios?

    just checked there is no option in the bios to disable the battery check.

    Ur battery is dead for sure. Try to flash the bios and see if it works. If not then get a new battery.

    my batterys lights are all one when you press the button. werid that its dead so soon.. my bios is a07 the newest available.. think i should re flash it?

    i dont know how you would config a battery in vista. maybe it is just a bad battery.

    I guess you can find some third party softwares like "Battery Doubler"which will detailly check your battery. It will tell its life and all history. So check that software out.
