how's it different from the old xps 170
i see from the website it still doesn't have core duo, so how's it better. i do notice it has the nvidia 7800. is that the only difference?

I got to it by clicking the link in the original post by Nickspohn syxbit. I see it's lost the black bumpers and has a gray keyboard. When its open and being viewed from the front (dismissing the XPS badging and red LEDs) it's less distinquisable from Inspiron lines. I can't say I find it as neat looking as the M170. Red LEDs are obviously meant to match the rest of the red scheme. But I agree, I'd rather have pink. xD!

Yea... I was a bit disapointed with the colors of the new XPS M1710. I thought the black and silver combo looked great. I don't really like the red lid either. But the new XPS M1710 is mostly white / silver. But that 512MB 7900GTX is crazy!

Excellent laptop, it indeed is a monster. However from a hardware perspective is there any difference from the e1705 / 9400 excpet the new 7900gtx. Seems to me the e1705 can be configured indentically except the 7900gtx. But i guess this is a positioned as a premium product with all the ufo lights & the excellent paint job on the lid. To sum it up can you guyz tell me if i'm right that the only diff is the vga, the outer appearances, the xps dedicated support line & ofcourse bragging rights & turning heads. Thx

The red lid is "limited" so I guess that means fewer will be made (but still plent) I actually kind of like the red better.

Its biggest thing is its styling, service and graphics thats what dell will talk about. Oh and another difference it holds 4gb the first time I've heard of a notebook doing that. And its vista capable to! (so says sticker)

I'd get one over a e1705 but I like gaming and the style better
