Dell's doing the smart thing and putting it out on their website the same day it goes on sale. So, you know, they get surprised by demand again and end up in the same situation they were when the M1330 came out.

I see a back-lit keyboard in a dark room, probably still a light coloured keyboard.

I just hope it ships with an optional 8800. I'm going to be really disapointed if we've waited all this time and it's just an 8700. Of cousre I've got a Macbook Pro on order right now, so if I really go through with that maybe I'll be glad if Dell doesn't offer an 8800!

Most likely exactly the same as the 1710.

Exactly the same as the 1710 when it was first released or exactly the same as the 1710 as it is right now?

As far as I know it's always been roughly the same price. I'd expect it to cost what it costs now more or less.

Check out some of the drivers that dell has, when you start them, it lists compatible systems, "XPS A2010, m1330, ,m1530, m1730"

    You mean this?

Yeah, it's a darkened room... but WOULDN'T a BLACK BACKLIT KEYBOARD be SWEEEET? Yes. Yes, it would.

Yes, it would be very much. I just can't give up hopes that Dell would see the errors of their ways, although it may be too late.
