    Hey all,

I am looking to sell or trade my Dell XPS Laptop for a Macbook Pro (new version. I am wondering what is the best way to go about doing this (and this is my first post as I found this forum on google =). Regardless, can anyone give me an idea on how much the laptop is worth/if it is possible to trade it straight up for the newest model newish Macbook Pro (15inch, even a 17inch, i don't care).

    Specs:
    -Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.5ghz (2 CPUs)
    -3078MB Ram (Corsair Hyper X I think)
    -400GB Hard Drive
-Nvidia GeForce 8700M GT 512MB Graphics Card
    -Bluetooth
-Multiformat DVDRW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support
-17" UltraSharp WUXGA high-definition widescreen display
-Microsoft Windows XP Pro (vista upgrade disc will be included as well, I chose not to install it)
    -Built-in 2.0-megapixel Web cam
-8-in-1 media card reader supports Secure Digital, Secure Digital IO, Secure Digital High Capacity, Secure Digital HD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard and xD-Picture Card
-IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface and 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports
    -Standard Wi-Fi Catcher
    -Upgraded Ethernet network card
    -2 Years of warranty left
    -Logitech MX 518 Gaming Mouse
-Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook, One-note + a lot of other Microsoft programs that I have the discs for (with a valid key code).

I would perfer to sell it outright, but I am wondering the right price/best way to do this. Thank you for your help!

And for reference, the laptop is in very good condition, one very small nick on the top cover.

If selling I would say due to the 8700M's you can get at least starting $850-1k. About the Mac Pro's they are pretty expensive so you might have to cough up some more money unless you can find someone to do a fair trade! Hate to see you leave your XPS though!

The XPS is a "truck". It weighs far too much for what I need and is too big. Otherwise though, I love it =). And seriously, the value of it has dropped over $2000.00 in one year? Wow =(

Thats something i don`t agree with really, given whats inside the M1730 i think they have done well with the weight. Its a desktop replacement so its not going to be a feather weight, its still very portable in a suitable laptop bag.

Ive only had mine for a month and i think its a superb machine, some people talk as though the M1730 is made of lead and you need to be weightlifter to pick it up lol, its not overly heavy in my opinion for what it is.

Agreed. I carry it to my school every time, 5 days a week. Never had an issue with weight for 6 months continually doing so. I have no regrets carrying this thing wherever I go.

On a sidenote, I guess the bag pack is also another important factor to determine comfort of carrying it on your shoulder - some bag packs are horrible and makes it feel heavy.

Well, but overall its your money, your choice. Your personal preference.

PS, Why do you need a Mac for? What Mac-only software that you'll be using that requires only -and only- an OS X to run that Windows cannot do? Just curious.

I think i have the bad backpack then cause my backpack is killing me. I got the Nesus or something, one of the best padded and most expensive one at best buy about a year ago, blue and black... 17' laptop case. whatever though.

And honestly, I am a huge apple guy too lately and I invest in them. I want to support =)
