Just bought this laptop for 740 pounds 'my first ever laptop'. Just would like to know if it's powerful enough for the most demanding games, not that i'm a gamer but just would like to know. I want to be able to connect the laptop to my tv and watch HD movies files without any jerkiness, would these allow for this. Also iS this laptop upgradeable eg: HD, GRAPHICS CARD, PROCESSOR. cheers.

Posting under the Dell>XPS section will be better and you will get more replies

This sub-forum is for requesting help on which notebook to buy
    Congrats on the laptop

I'm not sure about which lead to use beacuse I don't know what ports there are on your laptop

Your thread will be moved to the correct section. ;)

It will handle all newer and older games. Newer/more demanding ones at around medium, or medium-high. It will be a decent laptop overall. ;)

The Harddrive, CPU, and Memory are all upgradeable. Not the Graphics Card.

Thanks for your replies. @ ahl395, so it is possible to upgrade my processor, do you have any idea if all dell xps m1730 series will allow for this to happen or would I need another motherboard? Also I check on youtube it does appear possible to upgrade the graphic card from 8700 to 8800 model.

With your current motherboard, you could get any Mobile Socket P Processor. ;)

I'm pretty sure that the M1730 supports the 8800M GTX, so you should be able to install one of those and get a significant boost when gaming

    Hope this helps

Significant doesn`t cut it, a SINGLE 8800m GTX is better than SLI 8700M gt ...

I still haven't receive my laptop as yet  so i've just been reading up on stuff to do with the m1730. Can anyone confirm if this laptop (specs in first post) has Raid as I will do this if it's possible, also how can I tell if the motherboard will allow me to use a QC processor or at least a core duo 2 extreme AT 2.8. I think you can see where i'm going with this :D
