I might be getting the Dell XPS M1730 by the end of the month.

What can I know about it before I get it? :)

The problem is I am getting it because Dell uses the monthly payment method. :(

Do you know any other company that offers service to world-wide orders and uses the monthly payment method that is also selling a gaming notebook?

    I'm not getting it yet.

I have to wait until the end of the month so I can get it. :(

In the mean-time, you know any company other than Dell that serves world-wide orders and uses the monthly payment method? :)

I think it's one of the deals Dell has going on right now, probably was sent to select individuals. It is a very good deal, several hundred less than if you go straight through their website, all because they want to get rid of as many m1730's as possible before it is discontinued. I purchased one and Dell confirmed my order, so I can tell you it is true (though it probably won't be around much longer)! :D

i would also recommend tryin to get the m1730 asap. a 9800m gt SLI system for 1k cannot be beat anywhere.

the difference between a santa rosa platform and a monteniva platform are pretty small. u can add yur own RAM, 5300 wifi card, a better processor, and this would still be a steal. downgrade to the 250GB HDD and it will come out to be only $999.

I am currently using 4GB DDR2 Dual Channel Patriot Memory (PC2-6400 @800mhz) But when I use CPUID at the Memory tab I see!

    Dram Frequiences = 332.5 MHZ
    FSB :Dram = 3:5
    CAS # = 5.0 Clocks
RAS to CAS delay = 5.0 clocks
    RAS precharge = 5.0 clocks
    Cycle time = 13 clocks

Now I'm no memory expert, but I would think that since the DRAM is only at 332.5 MHZ. It would not support 800 MHZ memory! My theroy is 332.5 x 2 = 664.5 MHZ. So it would step down the MAX frequency to 664.5-667 mhz. Since my DRAM's are Dual Channel it would show 332.5 MHZ each channel! Can someone comfirmed this with their system and see if I'm wrong!

Well, the w90 does cost quite a few hundred more than his setup. And it doesn't have backlit keyboard, among other disco lights. Shiny disco bal....comp.

Well, comparison! the XPS is more of a entertainment rig! it's got style, FX lights, fake carbon fiber design, OH!! LCD display that intergrates with some games! Always nice to know the CPU/Mem usage! Very soild Screen won't flex or bend easily, and it's also good to know that you can overclock an Xtreme Processor! But for me the biggest buy is the Nvidia cards and also the rear heat outlets! I don't like laptops that dissipates heat on it's sides such as my other laptops before!

But isn't the W90 more powerful than M1730?

Yes, the Asus W90 is more powerful than our XPS, but there is on thing that the W90 don't have and that's the Xtreme processor. I don't think it would support it even though it's Montevina. When our system's X9000 overclocked well, hit 13-14k and we should be close to a stock W90. Let's face it W90 is larger in everyway!

    W90 can over clocked too!
    4870's > 9800M GT
    18.4" > 17"
    and Oh weights more!

I would say overall it's 20-35% faster than our fullyloaded XPS!

Our New Breed Allpowerful M17x would be more in comparison with W90!
