    Hi Guys

If you take a look at the latest dell xps studio 16 build page you will notice that the red model has come out, though you may have not noticed the change in the HDD section.

Dell now offers only a 5400 Rpm drive along with the SSD options, any possible reasons on why they went for this.?

Maybe the 5400 Rpm version produces lesser heat than the 7200 version and hence the heat on the touchpad goes down a bit?

Or maybe they just ran out of the 7200 models >.<

Neways what are the advantages of getting a 5400 if any..
and what would getting a slower HDD mean?
Booting would get affected but everything else should take around the same time...well maybe almost the same time, if it brings down the temp and increases the battery life a bit then the 5400 wouldnt be all that bad.

dell has different configs... eg.. sometimes they allow you to upgrade to 9-cell, sometimes they don't...

perhaps they only gave the choice for 5400...

    5400: cheaper, cooler, more battery....

make sure you get at least 4GB on if you get a 5400rpm... more ram = hopefully less page file use..

Just go for the 256GB SSD :)

From what I have read online about these particular samsung ssd's is that they are SMOKIN' fast and worth the reasonable ~$300 upgrade (depending on system).
