I am interested in purchasing the XPS 15 that is shown on tech bargains for $729 with coupon, however, I want to upgrade the screen resolution which will bump up the price. I am a AAA member and can purchase through the EEP member plan. Has anyone been able to combine discounts? When I try, I can't get the coupons to crossover.

    Thanks.

The config shown on TechBargains is for the base configuration at Dell Home and the $70 coupon so EPP discounts won't apply. It puts the base config with FHD display upgrade at 879.99.

If you purchase through EPP, there is a $100 coupon for systems $999 or higher. The display upgrade brings the price to only $930.00. You could add another upgrade like CPU or backlit keyboard + WLAN card just to get the price to $999 and you'll end up within a few dollars of the Dell Home system. Looks like the EPP route will net you a little extra bang for your buck.

If I buy a refurbished......can I pay extra and have them upgrade the screen, or does that have to be done before the laptop is built?

Dell won't be able to do that for you. There is a thread around here about swapping the screen yourself, but sourcing the exact same awesome-quality B+RGLED 1920x1080 display in the XPS 15 can sometimes be difficult. Ordering from Dell may set you back around $360, so you'll probably want to order the cable from Dell and order the screen separately.
