    Hi,

My Dell XPS l702x been running in slow motion when I play games. It's been happening recently with D3 but I read that that's a known issue with that particular game, although I had no problems since launch. But now it's been happening with other games too i.e. tera online. And when I exit the games, my entire computer is a little slow. Maximizing and minimizing windows is noticeably slower. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or what I can do to fix it?

    Thank you.

When you boot the machine, hit F12 and go to the Diagnostics portion and run the Dell diagnostics, could be a hardware issue.

Have you downloaded ThrottleStop and run a log file yet while gaming? Sure sounds like CPU clock modulation throttling to me which ThrottleStop can monitor and correct. Upload a log file to Pastebin.com and post a link so I can have a look. Send me a PM message if you need more help.

I would rather someone poke me in the eye with a pointed stick than have to re-install Windows and all my apps. If kprime does some basic testing, this problem should be easy to solve. It's probably a lot like the XPS 1640 and XPS 1645 that also had some clock modulation throttling issues depending on the bios version and which way the wind is blowing.

Hence I highly recommended the Dell PBA diagnostics be run, no point of reinstalling OS if your drive is failing, that can cause Windows to randomly lock up/freeze. Also it has sensor diagnostics, and you will see the temperatures of your machine under load.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I think I'll hold off on reinstalling windows too :p . I'll try what you suggested tsunade hime. And thank you for the offer unclewebb, but I'd like to perform the diagnostics first since I'm not to familiar with running throttlestop. However if that doesn't solve my problem, I'd like to try your suggestion.

    Thank you all again.
