Which is better? Dell offers to replace my xps m1330 that I bought 10 months ago for the newer Studio XPS 13 at no cost (reason little scratch on case that i personally dont care at all about).

Everybody told me that the Studio was far better. Was just about to accept the change when reviews about Studio XPS 13 worried me. Among worries are overheating issues, too glossy display which is a pain outdoors or near light, very short battery life, chunkier and heavier...

Display is an issue to me, the m1300 already was a bit too glossy, and dont use it for playing games. Battery life also important. So, anybody can give me some advise on this, is the display of the Studio XPS significantly glossier? Is the battery life noticeably shorter in the Studio too? Thank you :)

If you're taking it outdoors often, the glare from the edge-to-edge screen maybe too much. It does heat up in performance mode, but heat is tolerable when idle. Otherwise, when it heats up all the time, updating the BIOS is one solution...also fixing those nasty BSODs. Battery life is between 2-3 hours when surfing and word processing. But you could also get a 9-cell for more mileage.

Unless you want to have a Dell Tech out every 6 months then avoid the XPS1330 cause it's a lemon model and has lots of issues

I do already have the XPS1330, that is the one that Dell offers to exchange for a new Studio XPS 13.

What are the issues you have noticed about the XPS1330? Do you then recommend that i change it for the Studio XPS 13? Thank you :)

4 motherboard replacements, 2 palmrest, 2 Hard drives are just a few of the problems I have had. If you have been offered a Studio XPS 1340 exchange then you should take it. The model and specs will Depend on the Dell rep. You could see even a different model.

That depends. Using a 8400 GS GPU ups the chances of your motherboard getting replaced due to overheating. An X3100 GPU is somewhat a safer choice, but it's a relatively old GPU.

go with the Studio XPS 13 or another machine..

the dell xps m1330 is old.... hardware is last generation, documented problems (overheating on the 8400).. not worth it....

if you think the Studio XPS 13 is worse than the m1330, then look for another machine...

    sell this one?

So what does it take to get get a new lappy vs getting the old 1330 fixed?
I've sent mine in twice for failed GPU/MB and it's been just under 2 years. I know it'll happen again.
So next time, will they offer me a new one, or still just fix it?

You're in the minority (Assuming you meant the SXPS 13). The XPS 1330 has definite problems due to Nvidia's 8xxx series of GPUs; the SXPS 13 doesn't.
