I want to know to hook up my laptop to my tv to watch movies.

    1. Am I capable of watching at full 1080p? My laptop has a blu ray drive.
    2. How do I stream to my tv?

I want to find out how to do this so I can possibly save up for a blu ray player in the future.

if your tv supports hdmi input, you can directly attach your laptop in your tv using it. or you can use the usual AV cables. Then go to display settings and extend your desktop to your tv (should be monitor #2).

if you have ps3, i used to stream using vuze or windows media center.

Basically the TV just becomes another monitor.

    1. That depends on the TV's resolution. If your TV can do 1080p then your laptop will handle it fine if you use the right cables.

    2. You want to use a good HDMI cable. If you use RGB or S-video then you wont get HD quality. Your TV would need an HDMI port. If it does, then get yourself an HDMI cable and just use that to connect it to your tv. Then just go to your display settings and make the TV the primary display.

Word of warning, make sure you use the hotkey F6 or F8 to turn off the display on the laptop itself, it can cause issues for DXVA, and CUDA.

    okay, will do...

    so basically

    1. hook up cable to tv
    2. press f6 or f8
    3. watch movie

What type of setting should I change in Nvidia display center? I did it but the screen didn't look right.
