I found the Ethernet drivers last night
Now i am only missing one driver, Something called the sm bus controller
If you know where the driver for this piece of hardware is please point me in the right direction.

Heres a list of some essential drivers

    Wireless (intel wireless-n only)
    link

    Ethernet
    link

    Video Driver
    www.laptopvideo2go.com

    Audio

    link

most other drivers can be found at the hardware manufacturer's website

before installing XP x64 you need to disable the flash cache module and switch the hard drive mode from AHCI to ATA

also the built in speakers don't work but headphones do. I think this is because i don't have the Sm bus driver

this is my first post so if you tell me how ill post a screenshot :D

NOTE: i am not responsible for any damage caused to your laptop

    EDIT
: dont use my audio driver use NuSuey's which can be found further down this page

Funny, I manually installed the wifi drivers and then everything auto-installed through Windows Update except the biometric software. I also found manually updating ethernet drivers cured a conflict with my gigabit expresscard.

I'm worried about switching to XP only because there can be some conflicts boot problems among other things that I don't want to deal with. Dell should really offer the Windows XP option.

If you could upload it to megashare or rapidshare.com that would be fantastic.

    Thanks.

The whole pack would be great, including the Dell 1505 Wireless N Drivers if you have them.

I want to downgrade from Vista x64 to Windows XP Pro x64. There are just a few things about Windows Vista x64 that I don't like when it comes to compiling programs.

Windows XP x64 worked perfectly in the past, so I would like to go back to that.

    Thanks for any help.

    Thanks.

While I was waiting for your reply I thought I would try and find all the drivers myself, and I came across this page:

    Link

I also found the Dell Wireless N drivers on the Dell site.

Thanks for your help, and I am now just creating my unattended install CD. :)

Can you upload your entire driver pack to Rapidshare.

I just spent close to 36 hours messing with drivers and all it does is crash.

So I would like to start from scratch with drivers that someone else confirms working on their system.

    Thank you so much.

    Ok here is an update:

I got it all up and working thanks to (yes I know it is hard to believe) Dell technical support.

A very nice guy there went WAY outside his nine dots to get me all the _correct_ drivers for the system. He even got Dell Quickset to install without a hitch.

Here is the issue however. The system just feels slower than with Windows Vista installed.

Do you think it would help to install the AHCI driver? I know I can't use the flash module, but would that driver possibly help speed things up?

To have a slower system than I had before seems like a waste of the last 2.5 days :)

I have it all up and running just fine now.

He gave me all the drivers and I have them in a pack that I can upload to any service if you want to check them out.

It is 227mb compressed with 7zip.

I was able to slipstream all the drivers into an unattended install cd for Windows XP x64, and after the initial Windows setup, I only had to install the actual software for the finger print reader and the touchpad. Everything else was ready to go.

Actually in benchmarking the system with a node counter, Windows XP x64 was 1.2 million nps slower than Windows Vista x64. That is a serious difference.

I am uploading the pack to megashare right now, and when it is done, I will post the link to the file.

Also I don't use the laptop for gaming. In fact I am not much of a gamer at all. The only game I play, and rarely at that anymore is Counter-Strike. After 10 years playing it I got tired of the people that cheat and what not, and Steam does little to nothing to stop it. So I decided to pretty much stop playing all together.

What game is the problem? I would have to say that XP x64 is terrific for gaming, as I used it for years with Counter-Strike and never had a problem.

I also find the 177.92 drivers slow, so I rolled back to the 177.83, and they perform much better.

I had to restart the file upload as megashare had a problem with the file, so it is being uploaded to File Factory in 100MB chunks.

    Should be ready shortly.

I'm on live chat with Dell right now and the rep is telling me that Dell doesn't support 64 bit so they can't link me to any drivers.
Now the rep is trying to convince me that the 32 bit drivers will work on both 64 & 32 bit! Funny stuff!!
