    Hi all,

My m1730 is still going strong except for very stiff screen hinges that are so stiff they're verging on causing a physical problem (a known issue I believe - wd40 is no help)

I've already been let down by one eBayer flogging old stiff hinges 'as new' (got money back though and two sets of very stiff/useless hinges).

Has anyone got an idea where I can can 'new' hinges from ?

    cheers

    Steve

I'm pretty sure the hinges don' get stiffer as they get older...

I'm pretty sure they *can* do, I'm not imagining it, thanks anyway.

These people seem to know about it so I'll try them:

Some laptops have a problem with the hinge becoming stiff. It becomes difficult to open and close the laptop lid. The plastics may also be damaged by a defective hinge.

The same thing happened to my M1730. Dell replaced them under warranty.
I have to say this is the first I have seen this. In the past I have only seen them get loose overtime.
