I think I'm going to try the XPS. Even though the screen is glossy because I prefer the features in the XPS over the Vostros or Latitudes and I don't like the feel of the Lenovos.

Anyway, in an effort to save some money, is it worth the upgrade to the T8300 processor from the T7250 for $50? I don't think its worth it to downgrade from 4GB to 2GB of ram for $100 since the 2GB is going to come as 2 dimms, and I'd have to throw one of them away when upgrading to 4GB via NewEgg.

Also, should I bother upgrading to Wireless N? My current wireless router is only G, but since I don't plan on replacing the new laptop for hopefully another 4 years, I'd like to have some options in place for growth. I don't transfer files between pcs. It would primarily be used for surfing, both from inside the house and out in the yard.

Lastly, is it better to accept the 1 yr warranty, then just add to it when it's ready to expire? Or would I get a better price by going with 2 yrs right from the start?

    Thanks for all your help.

Well, IMO I think that Wireless N if you can afford it is REALLY nice. :) It works a lot better than G and I think it is a worthy upgrade.

Also, the warranty thing IMO you should just go with 1 yr. and see what happens and if you want more upgrade then. 1 yr IS quite a while and you may have no problems and not want to spend the money, or who knows what else might arise...

    Hope this helps!

It's amazing...the games these vendors play. Amazing isn't really the right word...annoying is more accurate. I had to leave to take my kids to soccer camp. Came back, refreshed my screen, and the Dell "deal" I was looking at was gone. Now it costs more to upgrade the processor. Can't downgrade the memory, etc. I'm sick of laptop shopping.

Also, check to see if the company you work for offers a EPP (Employee Purchase Discount), or if you are a student, you may have a discount also ;) :)
