    Hello everyone,

Since 2008, I have been the owner of a second hand dell xps M1530. (There goes warranty!)

In general, I've been very satisfied about this model, since it has survived 3 of my dad's 'medion' laptops!

But I have hit some trouble.

When I push the power button, the'panel-lights' on top lighten up, as usual, I can hear the cpu running but there's nothing on screen. When I hook it to my samsung flatscreen (HDMI), nothing happens.

I posted a video to show this clearly.

So, do you guys think my laptop is officially dead or can we fix this?

Almost certainly a bad GPU. Very common issue with the M1530 and more or less requires a new motherboard (which will be susceptible to the same issue). If you aren't under warranty would definitely consider getting a new laptop.

When you hook it up to the flatscreen, do you press the Fn + F8 to pipe it out? If you've tried known good RAM and it still doesn't POST, your GPU/motherboard is bad. As Commander Wolf has stated, with all the Nvidia BGA issues with the M1530, I would highly advise a new laptop. Even Intel HD 3000 graphics will outclass the 8400M GS and is slightly lower than 8600M GT, but you'll experience much better battery life.

    Thanks for the post guys!

So yesterday evening I tried something else:

I pushed the power button, gave it a few minute to fully boot.
Then' I just closed the lit so the laptop went to 'sleep'.

After a few minutes, I opened the lit and the screen lighted up!

Tonight I'll be backing up all my files on my external hard drive in case the error occurs again.
