I purchased a Dell xps 15 Friday morning (1/7) from the Dell outlet store and it is currently been in the production stage for over 24hrs now. I purchased it with my dell preferred account and the card has been charged because the available credit reflects the order placed. Couple of questions, why is an outlet order in production stage and is it possible it actually shipped and is not being reflected on the order page?

Production is anything that occurs up to it actually going to the shipper(usually Fedex) including pulling it from the warehouse, boxing, etc. It should ship out on Monday.

Yeah it should be shipped out by Monday. I ordered mine early Thursday around 7AM and the next day it was Shipped. Instead of the 13th which the Dell Outlet estimated to be the delivery date it is now the 11th according to Fed Ex so I'm happy.

They usually ship out the same day unless there are any problems (or ordered late in the day).

Every time I've ordered if there is a coupon(like the 15% off one right now) they are a lot busier and typically don't ship til next business day. Normal outlet times they ship same day though. Just my experience with them of course.

Yeah I had used a 15% coupon. Ordered it around 8:30am on Friday so I was kind of hoping it would ship same day. It went into the production stage a few hours after I ordered it but it hasn't changed since. The only reason I think it may have shipped is because my dell preferred account has been charged for the order.

Monday you should be able to get the tracking number.
Do you have a Order Number? Sometimes, you can get the tracking number/Status from FedEx if you have the order number.

    Go to: Global Homepage
    Track
    Track by Reference
In "Enter Reference": Put your Order Number
    Leave ship date
    Put in Dest. Country
    and Zip code.
then Enter: It will give you any information if it's availi :)

If you can see the invoice yet online, you can try the waybill in that reference number field if it is FedEx. For UPS the tracking number is 1Z+(waybill).

I just checked the tracking for my laptop and yea it is the order number now but there is also MRG after it.
i.e. ######### MRG. When I tried tracking with just the order #, nothing came up, but with the MRG it found it. I'm not sure if it is always MRG, or if that is determined by something.
