I'm considering undervolting my Studio XPS 13 that is arriving tomorrow due to the well-known heat issues of that laptop.

I was just wondering if anyone with other Dell laptops (or the Studio XPS 13 :D) have undervolted, and if they've run into any problems and how they like it now.

And are there any specific steps/things to avoid when undervolting a dell laptop?

I haven't got mine undervolted at the minute, however I did have it undervolted a while back. Got like 10 Degrees less than normal. There's no damage can be done when undervolting, no risks. The only thing you'll get is a blue screen, which is then fixed when you boot up again :)

Oh? So why did you revert back to your original voltage?

And also, I dont really understand how the BSOD can be fixed so easily? Through my understanding (haven't done much research about undervolting so i dont know the ENTIRE process), if you undervolt it too low, you'll get BSODed. Does that mean when you reboot, it goes to the previous undervolted settings that didnt cause a BSOD?

From what I've read, once it BSODs it returns to the last safe voltage.

Please don't cross post. I'm going to close this thread and move your other one to the main Dell forum.
