    Hey everyone,

New to this forum so sorry if im breaking any rules or so.

I'm currently studying economics in the university and i have to get a new ultrabook. Been looking around for a while and i really like almost everything about the new 2015 infinity display dell xps 13. The only concern i have is if the keyboard is too small? I'm going to be using this laptop like 10 hours a day for studying but also for writing long papers (20 pages or more). My concern is if the keyboard will simply be too small for those long papers and that i will fell it too cramped?

Any experience or comments to this?

    Thanks in adavance :)

If you've ever used a 13" laptop before, then it will feel like that.

The letter + number keys themselves are aligned as they would be on a full-sized keyboard. Most of the space savings to get the keyboard into the smaller chasis is the duplication of the non-essential keys (e.g. navigation keys like PgUp, PgDn, etc) that get accessed using a Fn-combo toggle.

Untill now i've been using a 13 inch macbook pro, think the keyboard experience would be somewhat similar?

    Yes, pretty much.

Just imagine your macbook pro with about 0.5" of chassis sliced off the left and right sides of the laptop.

Check to see if there are any Microsoft brick & mortar stores near where you are. They should have some demo units for you to play around with to get a feel for the typing experience.

Actually thought about that, but there arent really any "physical" shops in Denmark that sells Dell laptops like the xps 13. Thought about calling one of the online resellers and asking one of them if they have a demo or so :p

I've never used a laptop smaller than 15" before and whilst the keyboard feels a bit smaller, I've certainly never had any trouble using it or missed any keys whilst typing. I have fairly fat fingers too!

Honestly, you'll be fine. If you've ever used a 13.3" laptop before, then the keyboard will feel the same. Or if there are some 13.3" laptops at a brick-and-mortar store near you in Denmark, then the keyboard size / layout will be the same.

There really isn't much difference between a Dell XPS 13 compared to other 13.3" laptops except thinner bezel, and thinner laptop chassis. The keyboard layout itself doesn't change as a result of those two "thin" enhancements.
