The keyboard will illuminate, but I have to turn off the computer, and turn it on again, very frustrating, running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Any ideas??

The culprit is usually drivers failing to wake up.

Does sleep work on anybodies 1340?? I installed linux, suspend doesnt work for that either, this is really killing me, im about to put this computer on ebay.

Make sure you are not shutting the lid before you put it to hibernate (this is probably set to sleep by default). Also, make sure that you have all the newest drivers from dell's support page:

Does this computer also not come out of sleep mode? why would they release something that doesnt work?

I just tested My 1340, It comes out of Hibernation no problem, had several items on desktop and a couple web pages loaded.
