hi guys,
I just bought fully loaded 9560 and while installing windows i turned on my really old pc. The wires from pc and xps charging wire were close and both computers were close. Just as i turned on the pc, dell started to electricaly shock my as i touched it and the old computers icons started "bouncing" from one to another like i would move my cursor over them fast. When i turned the old pc off, it stopped completely. Can this affect my new computer long-term? What would you recommend doing now?

I got a shock too! Not a little one either. I tried to unlock another laptop's lock and brushed the top of the 9560 chassis and got a nasty shock. Then I did it 2 more times for science which really sucked. The third time I had unplogged the power from the lock's docking station. I think I'm going to call dell.

More likely to be an earth fault at home rather than the laptop at fault.

Maybe. Can I trouble shoot that? I'm at work and we have these herman miller desks with this stupid power column in the back, and I have noticed in the past it kind of sparks if you slide it around, and I think it blew up a power bar once.
I kind of suck at electricity. Why would this go through the chassis if it was something with the outlet? -

Ok, I told facilities and they're going to send an electrician.
But why would it go through the laptop chassis? I would think the laptop chassis would be isolated or something? Just curious.pressing likes this. -

Yeah, so I tested again and I was getting 210V across the ground. And then the electrician came and had to open the outlet part of the desk and found that a small piece of metal had somehow bridged 2 things or something. It's all good now am I'm getting 120v and no faults and no shocks.
Thanks for everyone's help!
