hello. I have recently got a new Dell xps 15z, but I had a really important problem.
laptop suddenly shuts down without any warning. it seemed to be overheating problem, I upgraded all the drivers and alse bios but it didn't solve the problem. after a while I undrestnad it's not overheating, because sometimes it shut downs when it is really cool! and after that i can turn it on at the the moment !!! i think if it was overheating, i have to wait for some minutes so it can become cool again!
now my biggest problem is that it won't turn on most of the times! i have to try for about 15 minutes and push power button again and again until it turns on, in other cases the power LED lights for about 5 seconds and i can hear fan starting, and after that it shuts down!
I'm in another country and I can't have the Dell support, what should I do now?![]()

If it is a over heating problem updating drivers or BIOS would not help.
but if you can get the laptop to run and download the hwinfo program to monitor the CPU / GPU temps that might help find the problem.
This could be several problems - heat, bad memory, hard drive, or motherboard.
If you can get into the diagnostics menu and run those tests and see if anything fails.
Turn on the system, press F12 at the initial Dell logo screen, and select Diagnostics from the boot menu. -
thanks for your reply.
I ran diagnostics tests, but it shuts downs during the test. -
You can try searching google for a program called hwinfo, down load it and install and run it report the temps of the CPU / GPU if you can.
You can try re-seating the memory, if you have two or more SODIMMS try using one stick at a time in different slots and see if anything changes.
if it is heat related problem try using a fan or laptop cooler to blow air into the laptop long enough to get the tests done.
if you really can't get to this point you will have to try contacting Dell for repairs if your under warranty.
