Hi guys, i am new to this forum so hello to all. I hope someone can help me. The only way i can power the the laptop on and boot to Windows 7 is to hold the D button and press the power button. It goes through the coloured screen procedure then boots into Windows 7 just fine. This will not work without the mains adapter being connected. Nothing is achieved by using the battery power, all the lights on the battery work and the battery test on the diagnostics tell me the battery is okay. Once booted the laptop will work for about 2 hours on the battery if i disconnect the mains adapter. One further thing, if i close the lid it will not wake from standby and therefore tries to resume windows once i go through the power D button procedure. Which then gives me the fatal error message and dumps everything to protect the computer.

    Wow that is weird

Have your tried a reset -

Remove battery, AC adaptor then hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds.

Failing that that I might try removing - replacing the CMOS battery
