It has been 5 months now since i have a dell xps m1530. A week ago, my laptop developed this strange problem. When i plug in the AC adapter the battery charges for a few sec and then suddenly stops charging. The status says plugged in, not charging. Even when in bios mode i see the same issue. Charging at first and then Idle suddenly. I can see the AC adapter as 90W in the bios which gives a glimpse that my motherboard is working fine. When i press the battery health button on the battery itself. One light lits up for charge and 4 Lights lit up for battery health. Do i have to replace the battery to get rid of the pluuged in, not charging issue?
    Thanks,
    Sultan

I'd call Dell Technical Support and do some troubleshooting with them, could be a faulty battery.

4 lights for health means about 70% wear.. Definitely calls for a replacement..

you guys have battery health lights on yours? My 9 cell just has a button 2 show current charge level, if we are talking about actually on the battery itself?

Was this forum about double post? I just need to clarify this that this is a battery issue and not a mobo issue?
I have ordered 9-cell battery from china as i am outside US at the moment. I am in Pakistan to be precise.
They have quoted me $67+$44 shipping charges which is pretty reasonable i think.
    Thanks,
    Sutan

No its not a mobo issue... its a battery issue in your case. Hopefully the replacement would be fine...
