With Macbooks being very popular for their unibody aluminum construction, do we think Dell will ever follow suit? Since Dell can't charge as much, I wouldn't expect it to be quite as high quality as a Macbook. The design is great because the whole chassis acts like a heatsink so it stays nice and cool.

That would be nice...aluminum isnt as prone to fingerprints as well. The black gloss on my SXPS13 looks great...but it's so high maintenance when it comes to cleaning.

Good point about the fingerprints. That's one of my XPS16 pet peeves.

    Where have you guys been?
    DELL ADAMO LAPTOP

Personally, I prefer a material that DOESN'T plastically deform as easily as aluminum...such as the plastic they've been using. My preference, though, is a titanium chassis with a coating of some thermally conductive elastomer. The ThinkPad series is practically there, and the best out there.

As for being quality, you're talking about a company that shipped their highest end computers for graphic design with monitors that had a very noticeable yellow tent along the bottom half of the screen for months, telling people, basically, 'tough .'

I guess I'm looking for an XPS16 replacement with a decent graphics card and quad core processor. The 13" Adamo is very nice though.

I don't think Dell would follow suit with Apple. HP has already tried to do that. However I wouldn't mind an all-aluminum body, would feel sturdier and cleaner.

It would probably be better than an apple chasis if you ask me, half of what you pay for with a mac is to have a little apple on the lid. The main part of the computer is made of magnesium already anyway, the screen doesn't really do much at all in the way of heat dissipation and the palm rests would suck if they were metal.

Although it would be a nice thing, titanium is probably a long shot given that it costs something like £3 for a single gram of the stuff iirc. How thermally conductive is titanium in relation to magnesium and aluminium anyway?
