Hi,
Has anyone tried to play the original Deus Ex on a M1530?
I installed it and had a go, however the movement seems a little sluggish, seems like I will walk at normal speed for about 5 steps and then a slower speed for a couple of steps then back to normal. All the other characters in the game seems to move at a consistent speed though.
I really want to play this again and I haven't been able to for the last 2 years because my old D810 ran it far too fast because it had a centrino CPU in it.
Any pointers/ideas?

Does this have anything to do with that 'Run as if it was on an old version of Windows' thing you sometimes had to do with dated software?
Awesome game by the way. Completely immersive. -
Brings back good memories.

it's sth wrong with this graphic engine, I run Deus Ex and UT (first sequel), both behave the same way....;/ No solution so far, I gave up... -
You have to force the game to run on a single core, UT has this problem along with a number of other games.
Google how you can force an exe to run on a single core all the time, it's pretty easy on XP, not sure on Vista but it should be possible still.
There's also another issue with UT whereby it detects the processor speed when you start the game, and when you start playing and the processor winds up, everything moves too fast. There's a fix for that too, but I'm guessing your problem is the first one I mentioned.
Hope that helps, and good luck!

I know there is a program called WinXPLauncher, however, I'm guessing thats for XP, also it hasn't been updated for years, so I doubt it will work for Vista.
Does anyone else know of a similar program for Vista? -
I'd think the solution to having it run too fast would just be to force the CPU to run at one speed. -
Saves battery too.

Well I have got a program to set the affinity of the game to one core of the CPU, I have tried several different fixes, however I haven't managed to find a fix to the problem unfortunatly.
I guess I will have to try and put up with the strange slow downs! -
You don't need a separate program to force it to run on one CPU. Personally I wouldn't use something like that as I'd question whether it works or if it is what it claims it is.

The program just modifies the exe, but like I said, it doesn't seem to make any difference, not that I really expected it to anyway!
The reason I used a program like that was because I don't want to change the affinity everytime I start the game up. -
I kind of found a solution, run it in windowed mode! As soon as I do that it runs fine! Unfortunately I generally don't like doing that, and also I have to change the resolution up really high otherwise it's too small on my 1920x1200 screen.
Still, it's a temporary solution until I can find someone else with a similar issue!
