I got it at Dell outlet with 16.7% off and free next day delivery.

    -- Studio XPS 16 (1640)
    -- Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (3MB cache/2.53GHz/1066Mhz FSB) w/2.0MP Integrated Webcam
-- Arctic White with Leather Accent
    -- 8X DVD+/- RW(DVD/CD read/write) Slot Load Drive
    -- Genuine Windows 7 Professional
    -- 15.6 inch Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen WLED LCD (1920x1080)
-- Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Half Mini Card
    -- Scratch & Dent
-- 250 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
    -- 3 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
    -- 6 Cell Primary Battery
    -- 90W AC Adapter
-- Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module
    -- 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670
-- Shipping Method: Next Business Day

    Subtotal: $690.56
    Shipping and Handling: $0.00

    Sales Tax: $61.29
    Total Amount: $751.85

    Is this any good?

Also, how do I go about asking Dell for a 130W adapter? Just call them and they will give you one?

    I found another system:

    Base Studio XPS 16 - 1647 Laptop
Processor Processor: Intel Core i5-430M Processor (2.26GHz, 4Threads, turbo boost up to 2.53Ghz,3M cache)
Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
Hard Disk Drive 500 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) with Free Fall Sensor
    Memory 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)
Media Bay 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
Video 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670
    System Color Obsidian Black
Laptop Screen 15.6 inch High Definition+ (900p) W/LED Display and Camera
Laptop Battery 6 Cell Primary Battery
Network Interface Card Dell Wireless 1520 802.11n Half Mini-Card
    Hardware Upgrade 125V Power Cord
    90W AC Adapter
Software Upgrade 64BIT Operating System DVD
    Facial Recognition Version 2.3
    Office Software Microsoft Works 9.0
Security Software McAfee Security Center, 30 Day

$769 after tax and free next day shipping. Is this better than the first system? this one has the i5, 500GB HD, and 4GB ram. The screen, however, is only 900p. From what I hear, the i5-430m is almost the same as the P8700.

It's an older laptop, but still more than powerful enough. For the price, I think you did well.

you should make following changes to it:
    130W adapter- a must for xps 1645
1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730- equally important
500 GB SATA hard drive (7200 rpm)- would be better in my view.
by the way, you are getting a fairly good system for such a price :)

It's refurb. For the best deals, always call dell outlet for inventory. The inventory list on the website is abysmal. I just got the scratch and dent 1640 today. The only scratch is on the Dell logo LOL Almost perfect condition! too bad I already asked for it to be returned. Other than the cheap white leather, the entire white screen looked AMAZING! I'm going to see if I like the black one after the 1645 gets here tomorrow. Free next day shipping is pretty sweet  ps is your system brand new? If so, that's one heck of a deal, too.

    no its refurb aswell

they never dropped the price of rgbled laptops so much. also it has win 7 ult which is always nice.

i guess there are no rgbled laptops in the outlet aswell currently
so i was lucky to get it 3 weeks ago.

i think i did get a reasonable deal not v.good (as i think i paid 50 bucks more) but still i m fine

    your deal is quite lucrative.

LOL I just got this system today and am ALREADY getting the screen replaced and a 130W adapter. They even asked me if I wanted a system replacement. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I have to leave the country in two week, I declined the replacement offer. I just wished I got this system a month sooner.

It's the same. I wish it was an RGB. How do you even request for one anyways?

edit: the palm rest is getting replaced, too!! LOL that's pretty much like the entire laptop getting replaced.

edit2: I just discovered that, instead of getting the 4670 gpu, the gpu on the laptop is the 565v.

i guess 565v stands for 5650 which is any time better than 4670.
1647 currently ship with this gpu upgraded from 4670

Actually, the 4670 was later renamed to Mobility Radeon HD 565v and succeeded by the Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (DX 11 Support and a higher shader count but lower clocked).
565v and 5650 are two different cards. while the 565v only supports DirectX 10.1 and is built on 55nm chip and shader 4.1, the 5650 supports DirectX 11, is built on 40 nm chip and has shader 5.0.

at least 565v sounded cooler. For the motherboard replacement, the rep had to look it up through remote control. I should have told him that 565v and 5650 were the same card. That the v was a misprint lol Anyways, I don't even know why Dell is going to replace pretty much everything in my laptop. I just told them that my WLED looked too pixelated, that everything from circles, colors, and straight lines looked rough. Kind of like how 3D games would normally look like without any anti-aliasing. All they had to do was to replace my monitor, but nooooo....they are going to replace the monitor, the motherboard, the palm rest, and the 130W adapter. Yep, they are going to sent over a technician to replace my entire laptop.
