Here is what happened. Bought a new 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, used imaging software to copy existing drive to it, started having odd issues in vista one of which was an inability to return from sleep without doing a hard reset. I tried every combination of BIOS and graphics drives which tended to be the culprit for others with similar issues. Out of frustration I pop in my old hard drive with the original image, boot it up, works fine.

Could this new hard drive just have some weird incompatibility? Does this sound reasonable at all?

Also, I talked to Dell support, they claimed it wouldn't work because I had 4GB of RAM, which I don't actually have since I loaned a 2GB stick out to my Dell mini 9, I only have 3GB total.
