So, I have been following the throttling issue for a couple weeks now, and my warranty is up in a month--so I need to get this worked out fast. I used to get pretty poor performance gaming and otherwise pushing it, now I understand why.

I have a 1640 (P8600), and am on the newest BIOS, which helped a bit, but not all the way. I just got a 130w power adapter, which seems to have caused my computer to run the fan every second of being on, and also to increase temps under light loads (increase to about 75-80 sometimes) and has really heated up the chassis of the laptop. It doesn't seem to have helped the actual performance though.

I have been using RealTemp to casually monitor temps and CPU speed. I also fire up Throttlestop to double check sometimes. Both of these report my clock speed to be where it should (~2400) but it does not run like it is. I checked using Core Temp, and it reported much lower speed.

    I have 2 main questions:

    1) Which is correct? (see attachment...this is all with no activity other than reading these threads)

    2) What should I do regarding this? Email Dell? Online Chat? Use michael[at]dell email?

My only other issues I have had dealt with are replacing a dead keyboard and also the screen. I know that a lot of people have been able to get theirs replaced and upgraded, but I feel like I shouldn't ask for that with only those 2 repairs and a new powercord. I only discovered these threads 2 weeks ago, so it's not like I have been going back and forth with Dell a lot. (I have noticed poor performance the whole time however)

But, all of you know better than me, so that is why I come here to ask.
    Thank you to everyone

CPUz says 2393, and it is not moving at all, other than + or - .5 MHz. The other programs would at least vary by between 50 and 100 most of the time.

wprime gives me this for the 32M test: 38.766 sec (2526.1 MHz Penryn R0)

Your wprime time seems ok (should really be closer to 32secs).

If your CPU was really 1.6ghz you would get getting like 60secs.

So I think it's probably fine.
